steps put together in a fun format that ANYONE can follow! Cha Cha, Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and more combine for an energizing, calorie-burning work-out that targets hips (lots of hips!), thigh, and your fundillo (derriere). Try it, you’ll love it! Instructor: Susan Quin was the Aerobic Director at the Norseman for 13 years. She holds a certificate in group fitness, personal training and strength training. This exercise “sampler” will offer a different class type on a rotating schedule. Students will try a new class every 2 weeks. The schedule will be posted, so studnents can bring the appropriate “gear”. Class choices will include: Ball Blast, Boot Camp/Interval Training, Kickboxing, Low-Impact Aerobices/Strength Training, Pilates/Toning and Zumba. Format will be basic, easy-to-follow, and multi-level so all participants can get a good work-out each class. Instructor: Susan Quin (see bio under Zumba)

Cardio moves are alternated with strength/toning exercises to work the entire body in this fun, fast-paced, easy-to-follow class. Multiple fitness levels will be demonstrated. Drop-ins $10 per class –if you sign up for the class after dropping-in the $10 will NOT be applied to the cost of the rest of the session.

This course is a basic sampling of everyday vocabulary, ASL instruction and overview of the Deaf Culture. It is a total involvement class and students will quickly learn how to communicate in modes other than verbal. This class is designed for beginners with little or no Spanish language experience. Spanish pronunciation, basic vocabulary, present tense verbs,greetings and farewells, and everyday conversational expressions will be introduced. Students will begin to converse in Spanish. Through poems, short fiction and essays, we’ll explore the complicated, often uneasy relationship between humans and nature: how we both need, harm—and heal—each other. No outside reading or writing required. Instructor Anne Speyer has taught literature for over 30 years.

Get lots of ideas and help making curtains, pillows, table runners, place mats and napkins. We will go with your inspirations, or some of mine, or something you saw and thought you’d like to make. All the fun things that you said “I could do that” but just don’t get started. Lets have fun getting it done. Instructor: Joan McCarty has 9 years of sewing instruction and 7 years of hand sewing instruction and has been teaching at Adult Education courses for the past 6 years.

This class will show you how to fix those things that you have piled up that need to be repaired. Tears, buttons, hems, whatever you need to fix. We will NOT be learning to replace zippers, as that is more sophisticated than this class will be addressing. Please bring your first item with you for the first class so that we can get started, or I can let you know what you need to purchase to begin. Instructor: Joan McCarty has 9 years of sewing instruction and 7 years of hand sewing instruction and has been teaching at Adult Education courses for the past 6 years.

402                        Woodworking and Furniture Refinishing       Cost: $135

Have you ever wanted to use those treasures from Granny’s attic, or does furniture call out to you at yard sales. Here is the place to learn how to restore these items to find a useful place in your home. You will learn the secrets of refinishing by hands-on participation. In this class you can restore old or build a new piece. Bring your project, supplies and questions to first class. Instructor: Dennis Lawton has been woodworking and refinishing furniture as a hobby since his teenage years. In 1997, he was accepted to North Bennet Street School in Boston - career change after a lengthy employment with Xerox . Dennis graduated from the Cabinet and Furniture program in 1999 and started his own business in Furniture Restoration.

SELF IMPROVEMENT

500 Freedom from Fears and Phobias: An Introduction to EFT    Cost $35

Are you struggling with fears and phobias that are holding you back from living the life you want? Fear of flying, fear of spiders, fear of heights, fear of public speaking, and test anxiety are just a few of the phobias that can be quickly and easily eliminated using the revolutionary healing
method known as EFT. Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as “Tapping Therapy”) quickly, gently and easily releases the negative emotions and disruptions to the body’s energy system that are the cause of fears and phobias. EFT is one of the best self-help techniques ever because it can be easily learned by anyone and is usually rapid, and long lasting. It often works where
nothing else will and can be applied anytime to get immediate relief in difficult situations. You will learn how EFT works, see live demonstrations, and have opportunities to experience it yourself. You will also learn the basic version of EFT that you can use on your own. Instructor: Jim Birchfield is an EFT Practitioner helping people of all ages gain relief from a variety of fears, phobias and emotional issues allowing them to live a more peaceful and fulfilling life.

Are you one of thousands who dread and avoid speaking before a group? Have you always wanted to learn ways to work through your fear of public speaking? If so, this workshop is designed for you! Whether you want to propose a toast, speak at work, or before a convention, taking this course is a great step toward becoming a more comfortable and successful public speaker. Instructor: DJ TomTuttle, MA. Tom will guide you in a series of useful exercises designed to build your self-confidence. You will also learn tips for preparing and organizing your presentation. This workshop will enable you to pay attention to their financial life using a right brain approach. It is an art class and a financial class and two art pieces are completed as well as a homeworkassignment.The first class is an art class which shows how art concepts can be used in your finanical life. The second class helps women to become a decision makers in achieving
financial independence. It will be fun and generates healthy discussions among women around their fears, wants and goals.Instructor: Donna Lynch is a registered representative with New York Life, is married and has four children and is a muralist in her spare time. She specializes in working with women of all ages, backgrounds and professions.

Classes held at the school do not meet on legal holidays or during school vacations. Please note the dates of classes.

Location: HES = Harwich Elementary School on South Street ; HMS = Harwich Middle School on Sisson Road ; HHS = Harwich High School on Oak Street. Albro House on Main Street.
Actual room assignments will be posted.
Course Notification: NO CONFIRMATION is sent. Please report to class for the first meeting unless you are notified otherwise.

NO REFUNDS will be given unless the class is cancelled. A class with below the minimum enrollment will be cancelled.
REFUNDS:
1)Refunds will be given if students withdraw at least one week prior to the start of the course.
2) NO other refunds will be granted—this is a fee-based program.

3) Exercise Classes after the first class you wish to change to a different class, you can but only by the second week.
