First interpretation by U.S. Supreme Court of contract clause in U.S. Constitution.
Fletcher held suit against Peck for breach of contract on land Peck had sold him.
Land was part of large purchase from Georgia, and a new legislature had discovered bribery and fraud, so they repudiated the grant.
