~West Nile (WN) virus has emerged in recent years in temperate regions of Europe & North America, including Cape Cod, it is presenting a threat to public, equine, & animal health. The most serious manifestation of WN virus infection is fatal encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) in humans & horses, as well as mortality in certain domestic & wild birds. There are symptoms to check for to prevent serious damage or even death. The West Nile can be most commonly caried by mosquitos & birds. ~
