II. Short essay

   1. Explain the manner by which enthalpy & entropy affect a reaction.

   2. Describe the relationship between Heat of Formation ( Hof ) and stability.

   3. List four main factors which can affect the rate of a reaction.
III. Complete the following based on the diagram below

                                       1. The activation energy for the uncatalyzed reaction is ___
                                 2. The potential energy for the activated complex of the
            uncatalyzed reaction is __________
                                        3. The activation energy for the catalyzed reaction is _____.
                       4. The H for the reaction equals __________
                                           5. This reaction is _____________ ( endothermic, exothermic
                                           6. This reaction is _____________ ( self-sustaining, not
                                                 self-sustaining).

IV. Calculate the following.

1.) Two moles of NH3 are introduced into a 1.0 liter vessel and allowed to decompose
        according to the reaction 2NH3 = N2 + 3H2
At equilibrium one mole of NH3remains. calculate the value for the equilibrium
        constant.

  2. Six moles of NH3 are initially placed in a 4.0 liter vessel and allowed to decompose as
noted in the previous question. At 40oC equilibrium is reached and 0.80 mole of
hydrogen are present. Calculate the K(eq) at this temperature.
