Winter concert draws a full house
Wednesday, December 29, 2004
The
Harwich High School Music Department presented its Winter Concert, Songs
of the Season, Dec. 16 to a full house at Harwich High School. The concert
featured the Concert Band, Chorus and Select Choir directed by Rosemarie
Richard.
The evening began with bidding at the Silent Auction.
While the auction took place, Ashley Stevens on violin and Dan Martin
on guitar performed traditional music of the season as members of the
Select Choir strolled and sang to those bidding on more than 50 items
consisting of fine art, gift certificates from area merchants and more.
The auction raised more than $3,700 for the Friends of the Arts
programs and the arts scholarship fund.
The Concert Band performed traditional and nontraditional holiday
pieces like "Pachelbel's Canon" and "Celtic Carol." Members of Small
Ensembles performed holiday songs they arranged themselves on electric
guitars.
The Select Choir, consisting of 56 male and female voices, filled the
house with classic carols. The finale was a combined band, chorus and
alumni event, which brought the audience to its feet demanding an encore.
