910 STUDIO I 1 Credit
(Grades 9-12)
This is an introductory art class. It will cover most of the
basic elements of art through exploration of drawing,
painting, sculpture with clay, plaster, wire, paper mache,
mask making, cartooning, and printmaking.

911 STUDIO II 1 Credit
Intermediate Studio
(Grades 10-12)
Prerequisite: Studio I and permission of instructor.
This course takes Studio I to the next level. A further
exploration of the elements of art – drawing, painting,
animation, sculpture in clay, wood, and paper mache, and
the applied arts.

933 STUDIO III 1 Credit
(Grades 11-12)
Prerequisite: Previous art course and permission of
instructor.
Continuation of studio projects in drawing, painting and
sculpture. This course is for those students who have a
desire to create, yet not necessarily to enter art school.

923 STUDIO IV 1 Credit
(Grades 11-12)
Prerequisite: Studio III and permission of instructor.
Students will continue working in a variety of studio methods. Focus will be on developing a personal style and a concentration in one or more fine arts media and completion
of a portfolio.

927 AP STUDIO 1 Credit
(Grades 11& 12)
This course is for students who would like to put together a portfolio for admission to an art school, or who would like to explore a major in visual art. The portfolio will be submitted to the College Board for college credit and is an integral part of the course. Students will also be required to complete work over the summer.

930 PHOTOGRAPHY 1 Credit
(Grades 10-12)
This beginning course in photography will emphasize
creative photography as an art media and the use and care of equipment. It involves an introduction to various aspects of cameras, darkroom techniques, digital imaging and the use of Photoshop. The course will consist of time spent using traditional 35 mm cameras, black and white film. Students will become familiar with learning scanners, digital
cameras, and become acquainted with the many aspects and
uses of Adobe Photoshop. Photo 2 & 3 may only be taken as an Independent Study with administrative approval.

922             CERAMICS I                    1 Credit

 (Grades 10-12)

Students will become familiar with clay as a

three-dimensional art form.  Hand building, coil, slab and

pinch methods will be taught as well as an introduction to

the potter’s wheel.  A variety of clay finishes will be

utilized.

929 CERAMICS II       1 Credit

 (Grades 11-12)

Prerequisite:  Ceramics I or permission of instructor.

This course is a continuation of the use of the potter’s wheel

and various hand-building techniques.  Increased emphasis

will be placed on glazing, developing designs using

advanced concepts and understanding the technical aspects

of clay such as firing the kiln.

950         CERAMICS III      1 Credit

(Grades 11-12)

This course is designed to allow students to specialize in

hand building, sculpture or the potter’s wheel, influenced

by contemporary artists. Emphasis will be on self

exploration and creative expression. Journal maintenance

is required. Students will research a ceramics artist and

visit a local potter’s studio.

921 DESIGN 1 Credit
(Grades 10-12)
Exploration of visual design. This course will focus on the
elements and principles of art and the many uses of design
in both fine art and craft production.
