Virus Information

With the ever increasing threat of virus infections and spyware intrusions of computer systems, teachers and staff must be aware of the both real and hoax information. All school computers which are networked are using Norton Corporate Edition Antivirus software. All networked computers receive the most recent virus definition updates automatically when staff members log on to a network server. In recent months however, spyware intrusions may also significantly deteriorate computer system performance standards.

Considerable virus information is provided by both Norton and McAfee web sites. Antivirus definition files should be regularly checked on your computer system in order to detect the newest and potentially most dangerous viruses.  During the last several years, numerous destructive viruses, worms and trojan horses have increasingly caused damage to computer systems.  With Internet access, every computer is vulnerable to viruses downloaded from email and program executable files (games) and spyware installed from pop ups and unscrupulous websites. With student access to classroom, library and lab computers, teachers must regularly check that their computer is functioning properly using the most recent up to date virus definition files.
